Giving lingerie for a Christmas gift is always a great idea, but there are few considerations you should make in your selections so your gift has the desired effect on your recipient.

As you begin to assemble your list of gift recipients for this holiday season, you may be at a loss for what to buy for some of your friends or loved ones. Let’s face it; there are those people that seem to have a knack for buying the perfect, thoughtful Christmas gift every time.  Then there are those of us that seem to be more challenged when it comes to gift giving.  Giving lingerie for a Christmas gift is always a great idea, but there are few considerations you should make in your selections so your gift has the desired effect on your recipient.  No matter where you fall on the gift-giving spectrum, here are few useful guidelines and tips that are sure to help you get smiles rather than groans come Christmas morning!

Bad Gifts for anyone:  No matter who is receiving the gift, there are very few people who will gracefully receive and appreciate certain types of gifts.  Household appliances, cookbooks, self help books or most types of fitness equipment are usually things to avoid unless you know your recipient very well and know they will not be unusually offended or read a hidden meaning into your selection.

Consider the recipient:  Gift recipients usually fall into one of 3 categories.  Friends, family and the ‘someone special’s.’  Buying sexy or risqué lingerie for friends or family could be dangerous or even embarrassing–proceed cautiously or stick with more basic styles, such as pajamas.  Combine your gift with something else, like a music CD or a book to be on the safe side.  Buying lingerie for your significant other is a fun and sexy idea, but once again, you should keep a few things in mind.

Reconnaissance Mission:  Getting some basic info on your wife or girlfriend is of upmost importance if you want to give her some sexy lingerie for Christmas.  If you buy something too small, she will feel fat.  If you give her something too large, she will think you feel she is fat already.  Knowing her size is going to keep you out of the doghouse, so do a little spying in her unmentionables drawer so you will know what you are doing.

All that Glitters…isn’t necessarily comfy:  Know your lady enough to understand the type of fabrics, styles and colors she most enjoys and don’t stray too far out of the box.  No woman is going to feel sexy in something the size of a band-aid and that is completely sheer if she is more comfortable a little more covered up.  Lingerie styles run a vast and wide range–knowing a bit about your partner’s personal style will make sure your gift hits a home run–and that it get’s worn, too–which is sort of the point, anyway.  Give your lingerie gift in private, too.  There is nothing more embarrassing that opening a gift of sexy lingerie in front of your mother or Aunt Mable.
