Say what?  If you believe the big lingerie manufacturers and the televised lingerie runway shows, grannies went out along with the dark ages and are officially yesterday’s news.  Let’s get real, ladies.  Most women do have a pair or two of granny panties tucked away in the undie drawer whether they are willing to admit it or not.  Hey, they come in handy on occasion, like during certain times of the month.  Or when all your “good” lingerie is in the wash.  Or when you just want to be comfortable and you don’t really give a crap.  Or you are mostly sure no one is going to see you naked.  I suppose in these instances, having a spare pair of “sexies” in the ol’ purse isn’t a bad plan.  A girl can’t be too prepared. 

Recently, in the new movie based on Steve Harvey’s relationship advice book “Think Like a Man”, Megan Good tries to tough out a 90-day abstinence from sex period and wears very unsexy grannies in order to help motivate her to adhere.  Supposedly, men detest grannies; personally I think men don’t mind them as much as we think they do, especially if said grannies are on the floor somewhere.

With Mother’s Day quickly approaching (this coming Sunday – May 13th), we thought we’d give you some ideas on how to pamper the most important lady in your life.

Breakfast in Bed:  It’s the old stand by treat for mom on her special day, but it’s also pretty much no-fail.  Having breakfast in bed feels like an amazing indulgence.  Let mom sleep in while the food is being prepared, making the morning even better.

Artistic Keepsake:  Mom’s are sentimental creatures.  Making an effort to create something artistic and memorable for her special day is going to be very meaningful to her.  Idea: Using a simple round plastic mold and concrete you can create a handmade stepping-stone for her to put in her garden.  While the concrete is wet, engrave it with a special message and the date; decorate with pretty rocks or seashells.

Spa Day:  Treat your special lady with a spa day created just for her.  Relaxing massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and other girly indulgences are all available at local day spas at special rates created just for mom’s special day.  In a bit of a financial pinch?  Put together some special lotions, bath oils and scrubbing salts for her to use at home as a homemade spa indulgence that any mom will love.

Chocolate:  It’s a bit cliché, but there’s a reason for this.  Women and chocolate often go hand in hand and it’s a good idea to include some of this as part of her mother’s day celebrating.  Don’t overlook that it’s prime season for strawberries and it may be the best chance ever to treat your mom to some luscious ones dipped in deep, rich chocolate.  Chocolate also goes especially well with pretty, feminine and indulgent lingerie; take the plunge, she’s worth it.

Take Over:  Give your special lady a week off from being “mom”.  Run errands for her.  Hire a maid to come and clean the house, top to bottom.  If that’s too costly, you can take over the cleaning duties yourself and engage the kids as well.  Your girl will love having a week off to catch up on things she usually doesn’t have much time for like reading, relaxing or even taking a long nap!

Write a Poem:  It may sound a bit sappy, but even if you aren’t good with prose, expressing yourself in the words of a poem is going to hit a Mother’s Day home run. 

Take a Scenic Drive:  Take a drive to someplace nearby that is off the beaten path that is filled with beautiful springtime scenery.  Many locales are lush with spring growth and wildflowers.  It may also be fun to pack a light picnic and enjoy it in the peaceful, lovely surroundings.

Surprise Her:  Surprise your best mom with something you know she is going to love.  Buy her concert tickets or take her on a sunset cruise.  She will love the unexpected surprise and will cherish the thought that went into the effort behind it as well.

Do something completely unexpected:  You know that thing she’s been wanting to do?  The one thing that you just would rather die than do? Now is your chance to suck it up and make your girl very happy.  Buy those theatre tickets or take her to the ballet.  Your fun will be in making someone so well deserved truly happy.

Scrapbook or Photo Album:  Assemble your favorite memorable photos into a small album or make a scrapbook filled with photos and mementos of good times you have had together.  This is a gift that she will love because it took a lot of time and effort, plus it will always serve as a reminder of the good times you’ve shared.

Let’s face it, for all they do, every day should really be Mother’s Day.  Make the lady in your life feel as exceptional and loved as she really is by pampering her on her very special day!

Excuse Me – Is It Getting Hot in Here?

“Fifty Shades of Grey” is lighting up women everywhere.  The New York Times #1 bestseller has been duly nicknamed “Mommy Porn,” as average, everyday women are surreptiously grabbing their E-readers, privately delving into a kinky world of fantastical sex.  Why is this book so popular?  Even the author herself admits that she isn’t the greatest writer in the world, and the book itself was only promoted by word of mouth.  Even still, women everywhere are talking about “Fifty Shades of Grey.”  What does this say about the secret fantasies real women harbor in the deep caverns of their minds?

The basic plot of the story introduces Anastasia, a recent college graduate with no prior sexual experience whatsoever.  She is lulled into the glitzy world of Christian Grey: a handsome, charming and powerful self-made billionaire.  Anastasia is completely taken by Christian, and her love and strong desire for him is ultimately what leads her deeply into Christian’s world of kinky sex.  Why is Anastasia so willing to get involved in something that feels so completely foreign to her?

Women are natural givers:  Anastasia certainly won’t be the first woman to find extreme pleasure in sexually pleasing a man, no matter what it takes.  There is something empowering as well as intoxicating about knowing that a man strongly desires you, even if the woman herself is taking a completely submissive role.  Power isn’t necessarily comfortable for some women, especially in the bedroom.  Anastasia clearly is dubious about Christian’s offbeat sexual desires, but she is so into him that it doesn’t seem to matter.

Women want to explore their fantasies:  Fantasies are just that: fantasies.  In real life, it is not necessary to relive what is fantasized about in order for it to be meaningful on a personal level.  Many modern women have fantasies of submission. The popularity of “Fifty Shades of Grey” perfectly demonstrates what women are clearly intrigued and curious about; the inner dynamics of the relationship between Anastasia and Christian Grey.

Women want to live vicariously:  Life can’t always be as thrilling and exciting as it is on the pages of E.L. James’ romance novel.  Real life sex may not be as passionate, kinky, or mind-blowing as it is in this book–but it’s fun nonetheless to think about the possibilities.  This simple fact so obviously has gotten the attention of women everywhere.  Women may not be into sadomasochism but each of us likely has our own fantasies and fantasy figures–even our own version of Christian Grey, if you will.  Pleasing whoever he is and watching him fall under our own unique spell is perhaps where we find our own individual power and sexual pleasure.  “Fifty Shades of Grey” will make you question your own sexual boundaries as well, and for you, what truly crosses the line. 

If you read our article entitled Sexting 101, it was filled with some very important tips on how to successfully flirt and tease your significant other through the use of sexy text messages. Sexting is still happening all over cyberspace but sadly, it is not always being done with common sense.  According to a recent survey over 48% of women and 45% of men have sent what could be classified as a sext message.  It appears that many people are involved in cyber-seduction, and the trend is here to stay.  Sexting is not without some inherent pitfalls, however. Here are some suggestions that may help you get out of trouble if, unfortunately, you commit a major sexting faux pas. 

Sexting the wrong person:  Holy Hannah, let the panic begin!  You’ve already hit the send button when suddenly you realize that the sext message you just sent went to the totally wrong person.  Obviously, who the recipient is has everything to do with how much trouble you are in and how much damage control will ultimately need to be done.  Since a recent survey indicated that a whopping 12% of sexters have sent a message to the wrong person, take heed!  If you’ve sent a sexy text message that has gone awry:

• Say or do nothing and hope the recipient will do the same.  Hey, so you have a love life, right?  If you are lucky, the receiver will just laugh it off and if they do see the humor in the situation consider yourself lucky.  You go ahead and do the same.
• Pass the buck.  You can say your IM or Facebook was hacked, or that your phone was stolen and blame it on that.  Follow this up with a bit of commentary on how frightening the Internet is, etc.  Of course it’s a white lie but you may save a little bit of face if the recipient is, say for example your mom or your boss.
• Blame Auto-correct.  With phones trying to figure out what you are trying to type before it’s even been finished, many an embarrassing text has been sent due to the not-so-helpful nature of the auto correct feature.  Depending on the content of your message you can adjust the text so it appears more innocuous.  If the text message is hopelessly sexy or also includes a photo, this tip is pointless and you may just be screwed.
• Stick to the facts. Follow up your misstep with a succinct apology message stating that you are sorry, the text was not meant for them and then ask them to please delete it. Sometimes honesty is painful but effective. 

Sexting and modern technology go hand in hand: With an overwhelming segment of the population participating in this titillating sex game going over the airwaves it seems that a few basic rules bear emphatic repeating. 

• If you never sext, you can never have a sexting catastrophe.  It’s not the most exciting form of preventing errors but it is unequivocally 100% effective.
• Protect your password.  It’s bad enough if you screw up yourself–having some help with this from an uninvited source is a dangerous thing.  Keep your passwords private.
