Sometimes long weekends just sneak up on us. Life can get so crazy and chaotic and then BAM!–just in the knick of time there is a long weekend right in front of you begging to be filled up with fun things to do. Having an extra day to play is a great way to recharge your battery and spend some quality time with your loved ones. It’s also a great opportunity to up the ante on the romance-o-meter. Didn’t make any plans? That’s okay–here’s a few fun and romantic ideas you can throw together at the last minute. You’ll be relaxed, rejuvenated and back on track in no time!
Couples Massage: Considered the ultimate sensuous luxury by many, getting a massage as a couple is considered to be very relaxing as well as sexy. Many local day spas offer this type of service; many also have specials running through the month of February. You may be able to score a deal post-Valentine’s Day for what might be the most relaxing date you’ve had with your man in awhile. Be prepared for the relaxed mood to stick around with you when you get home, too. A night at home with a light supper and some romantic time together is the way to cap off this perfect day! Too late to get to the spa? Clever couples will just make do at home with their own version of his and hers massage at home. Candles and sensuous body oils will make this at home style spa date a very intimate treat.
Go Wine Tasting: Many local wineries offer special wine tasting events that are a perfect way to get out and do something a little different without a big outlay. Wine tasting, winery tours and other winery events are being offered in various regions of the country. Many wineries offer events that range from a quick day trip to a longer stay at a lush resort if you so choose. Check your locale for possibilities; you may be surprised what’s available right in your own neighborhood. With beautiful scenery and delicious wine to boot, there’s nothing better for sparking up a little romance between couples.
Head To The Shore (or to the Mountains): Depending on where you live and based on the somewhat unpredictable weather this time of the year, you can take a last minute romantic drive to someplace that is fun as well as scenic—the point is to have your adventure together. Dress appropriately and bring picnic foods to share. Whether you are playing in the snow or the sand, a day off enjoying the outdoors together is a great break from the day to day routine and the perfect activity to share during a long weekend. After your day of fun, plan a hot bath (or soak in a Jacuzzi) with some wine and chocolate covered strawberries. If you haven’t brought out your sexiest lingerie yet, this is definitely the time to do that as well.
Movie Night: With an extra day to sleep in ahead, plan at least one night to stay up late and catch up on all those DVD’s that you never seem to have time to watch. Pop some popcorn and mix up a sexy cocktail or some rich hot chocolate. Snuggle up with your sweetie in a blanket and hunker down for a night of sweet bliss watching movies at home. Our experience is that these movie nights never go completely according to plan–but that’s what the “pause” button is for.
This is one of those rare times when Monday is something to look forward to rather than dread. No matter how you spend your long weekend, make the most of your extra time together. Even the simplest activities can be romantic and fun!
